PUNE: “There are several design institutes in Pune. Also, the number of students in Pune studying design is increasing. Also, Pune has over 60 design studios and hence the city has the potential to become the design capital of India”, opined Meeta Malhotra, Founder of ‘The Hard Copy’ Magazine
Malhotra was speaking during the 17th Pune Design Festival organized by the Pune Chapter of the Association of Designers of India (ADI) at Hotel Hyatt Regency on Pune Ahmednagar Road on Friday in the session titled ‘Pune: By Design, For Design’.
With the theme NXT 25, the two-day conference saw several deliberations about design in presence of ADI Pune Chapter President Rugved Deshpande.
“The design industry is on the rise in Pune. To become the design capital of India, the focus should be kept on two things, more employment, and effective and consistent communication. With the help of these things, the design sector in Pune will further grow,” Malhotra said.
Malhotra also said that initiatives like Pune Design Festival will also help in Pune’s bid to become the design capital of India. Suresh Venkat moderated the session.
