Pune Platform for Collaborative Response’s No Illegal Flex Campaign Gains Support from City’s Political Parties

PUNE: The Pune Platform for Collaborative Response (PPCR) is pleased to announce that their No Illegal Flex campaign has received support from both of the city’s major political parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

PPCR delegation met Shri Jagdish Mulik Ji, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Pune City President, Smt. Vandana Chavan Ji, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from NCP & Shri Ankush Kakade Ji, Spokesperson of NCP, today and formally shared with them the #NoFlex letter, which calls for an immediate end to illegal flex banners & hoardings, that are rampantly being used by political leaders and aspirants across the city. The senior leaders have accepted PPCR’s appeal and assured them of proactive action. They will soon be issuing formal directives to all members of respective parties asking them to refrain from #FlexBaazi and all illegal & environmentally damaging forms of promotions.

The No Illegal Flex campaign has been a major success and a testament to the power of civic engagement and activism. We thank the BJP and NCP for their support and look forward to continuing to work with them to ensure that Pune remains free of illegal flex banners and posters. We will be meeting other political leaders to gather more consensus.’

The #NoFlex campaign was launched to reduce the number of illegal flex banners and posters put up across the city of Pune. The campaign has called for a ban on all illegal flex banners and posters and has urged the local government to take action to ensure that the city is kept clean and free from these eyesores. Close to 100 eminent personalities from Pune have signed an open letter to political leaders, commercial establishments, and organizations to remove illegal flexes and hoardings in the city by 31st January 2023. Over the last few weeks, the campaign also received support letters from thousands of individuals, housing societies, associations, and influencers.

The BJP and NCP have both expressed support for the campaign and have pledged to work together to ensure that the city remains free of illegal flex banners and posters. They have also committed to working with PPCR to ensure that all flex banners and posters are set up according to the law.
