22nd edition of the Pune International Film Festival to be held between January 18 to 25

PUNE: In the 22nd edition of the  ‘Pune International Film Festival (PIFF)’, Seven films have been selected to compete in the International Marathi film competition category, announced Dr. Jabbar Patel, director of the Festival. 

Today (January 2, 2024) at 2 PM, information about these films was displayed on the official website of the festival www.piffindia.com.

The competition of Marathi films is judged by an international jury. The best international Marathi film is given a ‘Sant Tukaram’ award of Rs 5 lakh by the Government of Maharashtra. Awards such as ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Actor’, ‘Best Actress’, ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Cinematographer’ are given Rs 25,000 each by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal.

Dr Patel further expressed that Marathi films selected every year at the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) are produced by young filmmakers from different parts of Maharashtra and they receive success at the international level.

The Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2024 will be held from January 18 to 25.  Movies will be shown on a total of 11 screens at three locations: PVR Icon (6 screens) at Pavilion Mall on Senapati Bapat Road, Inox (3 screens) at Camp area, and Cinepolis Cinemas at Westend Mall (2 screens) in the Aundh area.

The online registration process for the festival started on Friday, December 23 on the official website of the festival www.piffindia.com and the spot registration process at theaters will start on 5th January.  The registration fee for the entire festival is just Rs. 800 for all.
