PUNE: The Kalyani School (TKS) in Pune, India, recently held its annual ‘Mad About’ event, with this year’s theme being ‘Mad About India.’ The event saw the entire school community, including students, staff, and parents, immerse themselves in the rich and diverse culture of India.
From the start of the academic year, each grade was assigned two or three states and UTs of India to explore in depth. Students researched everything from regional cuisines and traditional art forms to historical landmarks and the myriad of Indian festivals. They also delved into the geography of the land and its sustainability initiatives, covering every possible aspect of learning in an age-appropriate manner.
Under the guidance of their mentors, students embarked on a journey of discovery, researching, debating, and enacting various elements of Indian culture. The board class students, although not directly involved in the event, volunteered their time and effort to assist wherever they could.
On the day of the event, the school was transformed into a microcosm of India, with each classroom adorned with student-created artwork and projects reflecting the diverse themes they had explored. Visitors, including dignitaries, guests, and parents, were treated to an enriching experience, engaging with the students, learning about their projects, and even enjoying a variety of games designed by the students.
In addition to the cultural showcase, the students also set up stalls selling bakery items and handicrafts. True to the spirit of giving that is integral to Indian culture, the proceeds from these stalls will be donated to charitable causes.
The ‘Mad About India‘ event was a resounding success, further solidifying TKS’s reputation for fostering a love of learning and community spirit among its students. As the curtain falls on this year’s event, the school is already buzzing with excitement for the next ‘Mad About’ series. Given their unwavering enthusiasm and dedication, it’s certain to be another event to look forward to.
