PUNE: Chellaram Diabetes Institute has organized its 8th International Diabetes Summit – 2024 from 15th to 17th March 2024 ( JW Marriott, Pune ) to tackle Diabetes and identify practical ways to tackle the growing menace of Diabetes and its complications. Prof Sunil Bhagwat (Director IISER, Pune) and Dr Narendra Kotwal (Commandant AFMC, Pune) will grace the inaugural function as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Dr Gururaj Mutalik (Professor Emeritus, B. J. Medical College & Sassoon Hospital, Pune) will also grace the inaugural function. About 2000 delegates are expected to attend.
The summit will cover talks on managing diabetes complications, cost-effective diabetes care, new advances, and the role of technology in diabetes management. One of the important risk factors of diabetes is excess weight gain or obesity – and the treatment of obesity will be discussed in detail in the summit.
Eminent international speakers from Mayo Clinic in the USA, Imperial College, University of Leicester, University of Dundee, Keele University in the UK, Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, Stellenbosch University in South Africa, National University of Singapore in Singapore and over 70 renowned Indian faculty members will speak at the summit
Over 80 young researchers will present free papers to win the Chellaram Foundation Diabetes Research Awards – 2024 Basic and Clinical Science Categories (Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 1,00,000).
Children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes will participate in the “Run for Diabetes” – a 3 km marathon organized by Chellaram Diabetes Institute and the Blue Circle Foundation on Sunday 17th March.
