PUNE: Established by Capt. Shivrampant Damle in 1924, Maharashtriya Mandal entered its 100th year this Dussehra. The centenary year celebration commenced with a unique procession on Tilak Road on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra at 7.30 a.m. in the presence of DCP Sandeep Singh Gill of Zone 1, Pune Police Department. Other dignitaries like Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd.) – President, Avinash Ghatpande – Chairman, Rohan Damle – General Secretary and Neha Damle – Education Director of Maharashtriya Mandal were also present on the occasion. Along with the students, teachers and management members also enthusiastically participated in the procession.
This unique procession included various demonstrations by students on Mallakhamb, Lezim, Yoga, and Lathi-Kathi. The other attraction was the street play on de-addiction put together by the students. Additionally, a special program of ‘Zor’, an Indian-style dip and push-up was organized at 5 a.m. at the Tilak Road campus involving the participation of 150+ people.
