PUNE: AI is not only for developed countries, India is not immune to AI it is in the thick and thin of it, we will ride the AI wave and shape the AI revolution asserted Veteran IT expert Dr.Bhooshan Kelkar. Toastmasters District 125 recently celebrated the 100 years of Toastmasters International, a worldwide non-profit educational institution with a special program at MES Auditorium, Kothrud in Pune. More than 300 members participated in the program. Milind Patwardhan, DTM – District Director, Sushil Pawar, DTM – Program Quality Director and Col.Uday Jagavkar, DTM -Club Growth Director along with present and past District leaders were present on the occasion.
The thrust of Toastmasters International is to build confidence and communication skills through a worldwide network of clubs that meet online and in person. From humble beginnings in 1924, Toastmasters has grown into a global organization, uniting more than 14,000 clubs, and hundreds and thousands of past and present members across 125 Districts spread across 140 plus countries with a presence in every continent.
District 125, comprises about 100 clubs with a strong network of 2000 members spanning the cities of Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahmednagar, and the state of Goa.
Dr.Kelkar delivered the keynote in front of a young audience who have joined Toastmasters to enhance communication and leadership skills. He said that communication indeed will be a cornerstone on which the new technologies will stand. India is on the cusp of making inroads into the realm of AI. It’s not an option and not a wave, it is a reality and a tsunami. We are not competing with AI but with the people who know AI. We need to look at new opportunities instead of being stuck.
Milind Patwardhan, District Director Toastmasters District 125 said that, today we are at the cusp of the AI revolution. While this revolution will change so many things the importance of good communication skills will stay and Toastmasters will continue to stay relevant. He promised District 125 would continue bringing such value-add programs for the benefit of its members and urged the non-members in the audience to spread the importance of Toastmasters.
Various clubs who excelled in their activities over the last three months were felicitated with Gold and Silver awards.
