PUNE: The City’s renowned vocalist from the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, Vidushi Saniya Patankar, is all set to present a special program titled ‘Kalyan Thaat Ke Raag’. This program is organized by the city-based Prerana Music Foundation. The program is being held on Thursday, 22nd August at the S.M. Joshi Auditorium, Navi Peth, Pune, from 5:00 pm onwards. Entry to the program is free for all on a first-come, first-served basis, with some seats reserved for guests.
Speaking about the event, Saniya Patankar said, ” ‘Thaat’ holds a significant place in Hindustani Classical Music and hence we thought of presenting ‘Kalyan Thaat Ke Raag’ which will feature performances of 11 ragas including Bhup, Hameer, Hindol, Shuddh Kalyan, Yaman, Marubihag among others, all from Raag Kalyan.”
The program will begin with Saniya Patankar and her disciples presenting the raags from the Kalyan Thaat. Following this, renowned flutist Pt. Rupak Kulkarni from Mumbai will enthrall the audience with his flute renditions based on Raag Kalyan.
The program will conclude with a high-energy rhythmic performance by Maheshraj Salunke and his disciples. They will present ‘Taalgajar’, a powerful performance featuring a group of 25 tabla and pakhawaj players. The entire event will be accompanied by Maheshraj Salunke, Madhav Limaye, and Pt. Abhijit Banerjee from West Bengal. Gauri Joshi will anchor the program.
