Attended by over 150 HR professionals, the event was a melting pot of ideas and takeaways.

PUNE: iMocha, the leading skills intelligence and skills assessment platform recently collaborated with HRInteract, a community of human resource professionals for an experiential conference called “UnMask – Meet the real person”.This unique HR event brought together 150 HR professionals to ideate and have a dialogue on “unmasking” the real talent of prospective candidates. From over 600 ideas that emerged during the deliberations, about 30 top ones were selected for implementation at the workplace.

The co-creation engagement focused on the experiences of 150+ HR professionals to “UnMask” and reveal the ‘real’ person who can be a prospective talent for hire. Held after a gap of 2 years due to COVID-19 restrictions, the HRInteract event proved to be a fantastic platform for learning, sharing critical insights, and having fun.

The world of recruitment and skills assessment has undergone several changes in the recent past, and while some were voluntary, others were reactive measures taken to ensure ‘work as usual during the pandemic. As a result of this, the previous parameters of ‘unmasking’ a candidate needs a thorough evaluation. It was to deliberate on this question, this community event was organized.

Speaking about this, Amit Mishra, CEO, iMocha, said, “There are times when companies look externally to fill a role even when there are talented and experienced people present within the company to take up the challenge. This happens due to poor visibility of talent and a lack of tech-driven tools that ensure continuous assessments and identification of skills in the workforce. Once the right skill-role match is identified, HR leaders can move the right talent to perform the right task which gives greater growth and job satisfaction to the employee and better output to the company. iMocha’s goal is to empower talent professionals with skills and intelligence, so data-driven, bias-free decisions can be taken to unmask the real talent.”

During the event, every attendee was asked to wear ‘Money Heist’ masks and introduce themselves to others. The activity underscored how difficult it is to meet each other while wearing masks. Subsequently, an activity called ‘Boast as much as you can, was held. The participants were asked to praise themselves as much as they could. It was a light-hearted activity that generated profound psychological experiences rooted in the concept of ‘Appreciative Inquiry.’

HR professionals were also introduced to the idea of Multiple Points of View (MPOV) which enabled the community present at the event to create its own tool for building MPOV. The volunteers captured the tool in real-time and a mind map of UnMasking was designed and printed right there. It is this Mind Map that is the group’s offering to each member and to the larger HRInteract community and even the HR ecosystem beyond the community.

By UnMasking the talent, the HR community can extract several benefits for their organizations including identifying the right resources internally and creating a path of career growth. While undertaking external hiring, they can better assess the talent and hire people with an aim to develop and promote them for stepping into leadership roles in due course. Through this collaborative approach, the event amply proved that by using the right technology and teamwork, ‘together everyone achieves more.’
