Pune’s Sudhakar Chavan elected as Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya secretary

PUNE: City-based well-known vocalist Pandit Sudhakar Chavan has been unanimously elected as the secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya (ABGM), Mumbai, which was founded by Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar in 1901 and offers courses in classical music.

Chavan was named as a secretary in a recently-held executive committee meeting of ABGM and his tenure will be for around two years. Chavan has been associated with ABGM for several years in different capacities.

Besides this, Pandit Balasaheb Suryavanshi from Gangakhed was elected as ABGM President, while Jaminikant Msihra (Puri) was elected as secretary. Sandhya Kelkar has been elected as an executive committee member, and she will also be working as the editor of ‘Sangeet Kalavihar magazine, brought out by the organization.
