Villoo Poonawalla Foundation collaborates with Round Table India for rebuilding a school in Purandar Taluka

The state-of-the-art facility will impart an enhanced learning experience for children

PUNE: Villoo Poonawalla Foundation has collaborated with Round Table India for rebuilding Shri. Siddheshwar Devasthan Trust’s School in Naigaon in Purandar Taluka which is around 52 Km from Pune. The groundbreaking ceremony was held today in presence of Mr. Jaswinder Narang, CEO, of Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, Tr. Manish Lakhotia, National President, Round Table India, Tr. Rahul Wadhwa, Area 15 Chairman, Round Table India, Tr. Manoj Bhansali, National Project Convener, Round Table India, Mr. Pravin Chopda, Chairman, Siddheshwar Devasthan Trust, Mr. Siddhanath Pawar, Chairman, Akarshrushti NGO & Members of Poona Round Table 15 and the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, along with the villagers of Naigaon.

This particular project involves the construction of 8 classrooms, a laboratory, an indoor recreational area, an admin block, toilet blocks, a dining area, a multipurpose court, and an open courtyard, totaling a whopping 11,500 square feet on the ground floor in its initial phase. The design finalized is a model of sustainable, hassle-free, and maintenance-free school architecture. The sturdy materials used in the building will not only age beautifully over the years but also involve very minimal upkeep costs. To make the design more child-friendly, the use of bright colors has been incorporated to make the learning space more engaging and inviting for students. The project is expected to be completed in around nine months with the support of local villagers of Naigaon, Akharsrushti NGO, and other stakeholders.

The school trustees had approached Round Table India to meet the infrastructure needs of the children. Taking into consideration the scale of the project and its long-term impact, Round Table India joined hands with the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation.

Villoo Poonawalla Foundation was founded in 2012 in the memory of late Mrs. Villoo Poonawalla. The foundation’s main objective is to enhance lives through a primary focus on education, health care, water and environment sanitation, and green spaces.

Round Table India is a volunteer-led organization aimed at promoting service, fellowship, and goodwill in national and international affairs. Apart from multiple community service activities across India, their long-term project is “Freedom Through Education”, where they focus on building state-of-the-art infrastructure for the education of Underprivileged Children. Since 1997, Round Table India has built 7890 classrooms in 3347 schools, having an approximate area of 2.67 million square feet at a total outlay of Rs. 380 Crores, which has positively impacted more than 8.67 million underprivileged students.
